Summary:
This amendment is for the purpose of increasing the County’s portion of funding for this project from $250,000.00 to $444,717.00, for an increase in total funding of $194,717.00.
Background Information:
The City and the County entered into an Agreement on May 14, 2017 for design and construction of a new pedestrian boardwalk between North Bayshore Drive and Philippe Park Drive. The boardwalk is in the jurisdictional boundary of the City, is owned by the County, and serves as a connector to a County park. That original agreement estimated the project at $500,000.00; however, that amount did not consider all design, survey, and project management costs. The County has completed the design of the project and has expended approximately $210,000.00 of its own funds for design, survey, and project management. The County has received bids for construction of the project and is in the process of awarding a competitive construction bid in the amount of $484,717.00.
Fiscal Impact:
The original anticipated County funding contribution was estimated at $250,000.00, provided from the British Petroleum (BP) Economic Settlement fund. The revised anticipated amount of County funding is $444,717.00 comprised of $250,000.00 from the BP Economic Settlement funds, and $194,717.00 from the Local Option Infrastructure Sales Tax (Penny for Pinellas). The City will provide $250,000.00 toward project costs. Total anticipated project costs are $694,717.00. This amendment is consistent with the FY20 Tentative Budget.
