Approval and execution by the County Administrator of the First Amendment to the Capital Project Funding Agreement (Agreement) with the Florida Holocaust Museum, Inc. (Museum) for an extension to the project commencement date.

 

                     Amendment extends project commencement date to no later than April 20, 2022.

                     Museum requested the extension due to project delays brought on by COVID-19.

                     Capital Funding Agreement is for $350,000.00 and supports a new lobby entrance that will address security concerns, ADA access and a separate entrance for school groups.

                     Payments through the Capital Project Funding Program are made on a reimbursement basis at project completion.

Summary:

At the request of the Museum, this Amendment will extend the project commencement date from no later than January 31, 2021, to no later than April 20, 2022.  This request is due to project delays brought on by COVID-19.  The project completion date remains scheduled for no later than April 30, 2023.

 

Background/Explanation:

The Capital Project Funding Program is administered by the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) on behalf of the County. On June 2, 2020, the Board of County Commissioners approved the Agreement with the Museum in the amount of $350,000.00 to support renovations to the Museum lobby entrance that will improve security and ADA access, and create a separate entrance for school groups.

The Convention and Visitors Bureau received a letter  from the Museum dated December 11, 2020, requesting the project commencement date be moved from no later than January 31, 2021, to no later than April 20, 2022. According to the Museum, the extension is being requested to address delays due to COVID-19.

N/A

 

Funding to support the Capital Project Funding Program is provided through the Tourist Development Tax Fund. Appropriation for this agreement is included in the FY21 Adopted Budget.

 

Delegated Authority:

Authority for the County Administrator to sign this First Amendment is granted under Code Section 2-62 (a)(1).
