Approval of the award of bid to Preferred Materials, Inc. for Fiscal Year 2020 Countywide resurfacing, restoration and rehabilitation paving requirements.

 

                     This contract consists of the resurfacing, restoration, and rehabilitation of multiple roadways throughout the County, including seven specific improvement locations as reflected in the attachments.

                     Four responsive bids were received with award recommendation to the lowest responsive responsible bidder, Preferred Materials, Inc in the amount of $7,569,928.20.

                     All work will be completed within three hundred sixty-five consecutive calendar days.

                     The Small Business Enterprise goal is 10% for this contract.

 

PID No. 003873A; Contract No. 190-0462-CP(PLU); award amount is $7,569,928.20; all work will be completed within 365 consecutive calendar days. Authorize the Chairman to sign and the Clerk of the Circuit Court to attest.

Summary:

Summary

This project will include milling and resurfacing of multiple roadways throughout the County.  Work includes the replacement of broken sidewalk, improvement to curb ramps to meet ADA requirements, elimination of trip hazards, replacement of broken curb, and various drainage improvements including the replacement of structure tops and corrugated metal pipes (CMP).  Other drainage improvements necessary to improve roadway and drainage conditions are also included.

Background Information:

The project is part of Pinellas County’s Pavement Management Program and consists of arterial, collector, and local roadways determined in need of resurfacing as a result of low pavement condition ratings.  This contract is effected with small specified projects requiring the same type of pay items for economy of scale.

 

Fiscal Impact:

Expenditure not to exceed:  $7,569,928.20.

 

Funding for this contract is derived from the Local Infrastructure Sales Tax (Penny for Pinellas), Surface Water Assessment, and the Utilities Department Water and Sewer enterprise fund.
