Summary:

The purpose of Change Order No.1 is to provide an alternative bypass system to accommodate for an unforeseen concrete encased infrastructure which has impaired the original repair work. The alternative bypass system will accommodate the adjacent infrastructure and will provide for easier access, and the ability to isolate the automated valve shutoff to the station in order to continue the original work. Additionally, during the investigation to develop the bypass plan, part of the existing infrastructure failed resulting in emergency repairs in order to maintain system operations, and to avoid overflow of reclaimed water into the nearby creek.

Sixty (60) calendar days will also be added to the duration of the project for KAT to reach final completion.

Background Information:

This contract was originally awarded by the Board of County Commissioners on August 7, 2018 to automate valves, install new flow meters and demolish an unused strainer assembly at the McKay Creek station.

Record Drawings produced in 2003 following completion of prior construction activities did not accurately depict the current field conditions, or location and size of the existing infrastructure that was found to be encased in concrete.
