Approve the award of bid to Torres Electrical Supply Co., Inc. for LED Roadway Luminaires.

Bid no. 178-0236-B(RO) in the annual amount of $418,070.50 through May 20, 2020 for a twenty four (24) month contract total of $836,141.00, on the basis of being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received meeting specifications.

Summary:

This contract for the Public Works Department supplies roadway luminaires with light-emitting diode (LED) technology netting greater energy efficiency and lower maintenance costs on local, collector and major roadways. 

 

Background Information:

On March 8, 2018, The Purchasing Department, on behalf of the Public Works Department, released an invitation to bid for LED Roadway Luminaires. The luminaires are the complete lighting unit consisting of a lamp or lamps together with the parts designed to distribute the light, to position and protect the lamps and ballast and to connect the lamps to the power supply.

 

The contract has provision for price adjustments (increase/decrease) at twelve (12) months after the date of award and thereafter annually for the life of the contract, in an amount not to exceed the Producer Price Index (PPI), not seasonally adjusted.
 

Fiscal Impact:

Estimated expenditure not to exceed through May 20, 2020:  $836,141.00

 

Estimated annual expenditure not to exceed:  $418,070.50

 

Funding is derived from the Public Works Transportation Division operating budget.
