Summary:
The purpose of this project is to construct a drainage system to eliminate structure flooding, and reduce roadway and residential yard flooding in the Crystal Beach area. The project limits are along Georgia Avenue between Seaford Avenue and Disston Street, including the diverting of stormwater runoff along Disston Street into Avery Bayou at the west end of Lorraine Street.
Background Information:
The existing topography, lack of a defined drainage system and stormwater outfall location in this area has resulted in structural, roadway and yard flooding. This project will install a defined drainage system that will eliminate structural flooding at one major location and significantly reduce flooding of the roads and yards within the project area. The project will also provide an outfall location for the stormwater drainage to allow a defined location for stormwater to discharge. Drainage system improvements will include new curb inlets, manholes, ditch bottom inlets, 1,253 linear feet of concrete storm pipes ranging from eighteen (18) to thirty (30) inches in diameter, with additional swales to direct stormwater runoff to the inlets and restoration of all disturbed areas. This project will also resurface some of the roads being impacted by the installation of the new drainage system.
Fiscal Impact:
Expenditure not to exceed $894,519.00
Funding is derived from the Local Infrastructure Sales Tax (Penny for Pinellas), and budgeted in Physical Environment, Storm Sewer Rehab projects program allocation of the Capital Improvement Program.
