Summary:

The County has been awarded a three (3) year grant for the Elevate Program, from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and SAMHSA. The Elevate Program’s goal is to reduce crime and substance abuse among high risk/high need, nonviolent youthful offenders ages 18-30 who have been diagnosed with a substance abuse disorder, have experienced trauma, and who may also be struggling with a mild co-occurring mental health disorder. Between 2015 and 2018, at least 185 youthful offenders are expected to enroll in Elevate through this joint award from BJA and SAMHSA.

 

Background/Explanation:

The Statement of Assurance was requested by SAMHSA as a requirement of the application and approval process.  The application has been approved, and the joint BJA and SAMHSA award has been granted to the County in the amount of $1,273,845.00. The executed Statement of Assurance form will be sent to SAMHSA in response to its request. Organizations in application meet the two (2) year experience requirement and applicable licensing, accreditation, and certification requirements.
