Approval by the County Administrator of the first term extension to the contract with Kapsch TrafficCom Transportation NA Inc for the maintenance and support of Smart Tracs Advanced Traffic Management System and Advanced Traveler Information System software.

Contract no. 134-0368-SS (RG) in the amount of $146,146.00 effective from July 5, 2017 through July 4, 2018.

Summary:

This request is for the first term extension to the sole source contract for annual maintenance and support of the Smart Tracs Advanced Traffic Management System and Advanced Traveler Information System software.

Vendor services have been satisfactory, therefore it is recommended that the first term extension be exercised at the original prices, terms and conditions.

 

Background/Explanation:

This sole source purchase was originally approved by the County Administrator on July 7, 2014. Since its inception, this software has significantly enhanced the County transportation system by reducing traffic congestion, improving roadway safety as well as increasing driver information and awareness. 

The contract has provision for two (2) additional annual extensions.

 

Fiscal Impact:

Annual expenditure not to exceed $142,146.00

Funding is derived from the Intelligent Transportation System Operating and Capital Improvement Program.

 

Delegated Authority:

Authority for the County Administrator to approve this term extension is granted under Code Section 2-180.
