5.1 Maximize partner relationships and public outreach.
Summary:
In accordance with the Board’s approval of BP projects and associated funding for each project on December 13, 2016, this Funding Agreement with ACT will provide $70,000.00 to purchase two (2) 15-passenger vans for afterschool educational and cultural enrichment activities throughout the County. The funds will allow ACT to serve more at-risk youth in underserved areas of the County by improving access to quality afterschool programs.
Background/Explanation:
ACT is a non-profit Florida Corporation whose mission is to educate, empower, and enrich the lives of youth and teens through arts education. Specifically, the CAP is a county-wide project that provides at-risk youth and teens from underserved areas with access to educational support and cultural activities during out-of-school time. ACT’s recent 2014-2015 survey reported that more than 100 youth and teens (ages 11-18) lack adequate transportation to be able to participate in daily educational activities and cultural interests, especially among middle school students (ages 11-13).
The CAP initiative breaks down transportation barriers and ensures at-risk youth and teens are exposed to alternative positive engagement through arts enrichment activities.
Fiscal Impact:
This Agreement provides funding up to $70,000.00 from the $7.1 million BP Economic Settlement Funds. The funding has been appropriated for this purpose in the FY2017 Budget. The County shall have no obligations related to maintenance, operation, and/or any other activity yielding a fiscal impact.
Delegated Authority:
Authority for the County Administrator to sign this Interlocal Agreement is granted under Resolution No. 16-90 adopted on December 13, 2016.
