Summary:
This action will convey three escheated properties to the City of St. Petersburg and one escheated property to the City of Pinellas Park, as required by Florida Statutes. The properties are located within the municipal boundaries of St. Petersburg and Pinellas Park and may be conveyed to the respective cities.
The Planning Department has reviewed the subject parcels and determined that the parcels are more appropriate to be developed by the respective cities. Three are located within the South St. Pete CRA and one is just outside the Pinellas Park Downtown CRA.
Background Information:
Resolution 15-77, recorded September 14, 2015, retained four escheated properties that were dedicated as needed for public purpose. These properties were conveyed to the County by Tax Escheat Deeds, as provided for by Florida Statutes Section 197.502(8). Florida Statutes Section 197.592 governs conveyance of properties located in a municipality which are acquired by the County via delinquent taxes (escheat).
Since the County has no current or future statutorily prescribed use, the County is mandated to convey them to the municipality where the land is located.
The properties and mineral rights will be conveyed to the cities by County Deed.
