Summary:
The petition seeks to vacate unopened right of way for construction of a new building, which is part of the Capital Improvement Program project to upgrade the Jail Campus infrastructure. The vacation is necessary to provide a sufficient footprint for construction of the new Facility Operations Division and Sheriff’s Purchasing Warehouse building. As a part of this action, a utility easement will be granted to the City of Largo for its existing sanitary sewer facilities.
Background Information:
The new building will house the Facility Operations Division and the Sheriff’s Purchasing Warehouse. The current building design encroaches into the existing right of way; however it does not affect the proposed utility easement with the City of Largo. A portion of the proposed easement also lies within an existing drainage ditch on County property and will be subordinate to Pinellas County’s drainage easement to ensure that it will not affect future maintenance needs of the ditch.
