Appointments to the Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council.

Recommended Action
Sitting as the Pinellas County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Authority, approve the following appointments to the Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council (EMSAC) for two year terms ending in August 2019:
- Mr. Donald Turnbaugh as the National Alliance on Mental Illness representative
- Mr. John Jones as the National Alliance on Mental Illness alternate representative
- Ms. Kelly Cullen as the Emergency Nurses’ Association representative
- Ms. Susan Byrd as the Emergency Nurses’ Association alternate representative
- Dr. Eric Carver as the St. Petersburg College representative
- Ms. Karen L. Mullins as the District 1 Citizen representative
- Mr. Jorge Mercado as the District 7 Citizen representative

Summary:
In accordance with Section 3.2, Council bylaws, these individuals have been nominated by their respective agencies to serve a two-year term.
On June 15, 2017, EMSAC unanimously proposed the appointment of Mr. Turnbaugh and Mr. Jones to represent the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Citizen representative vacancies existed for District 1 and District 7, and were properly advertised by the Communications Department. All valid applications were reviewed by the EMSAC Selection Committee and recommendations were unanimously made to appointment Ms. Mullins and Mr. Mercado to fill the two vacancies.
Ms. Cullen, Ms. Byrd and Dr. Carver are routine reappointments.
Background Information:
The Council was created by Chapter 80-585, Laws of Florida, and is made up of 24 members that constitute a broad spectrum of county representation. Of the 24, seven members are citizen representatives selected to represent their respective council district. It is the responsibility of EMSAC to fulfill the objectives outlined in the bylaws under Article II, Section 2.1.
