Background Information:

The Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 budget for the Supervisor of Elections includes funding for the PPP for the Democratic nominees only, as historically there haven’t been nominees from the incumbent party.  However, on December 12, 2019, the Department of State submitted a certified list of presidential nominees which included both Republicans and Democrats.  The inclusion of the Republican nominees will require an additional appropriation in the amount of $125,000.00 to cover costs associated with printing and mailing ballots; printing ballots for early voting, election day and provisional ballots; and mail ballot kit materials.

Fiscal Impact:

This amendment realigns FY20 appropriation in the amount of $125,000.00 from the Reserves for Contingencies in the General Fund to increase the department budget as outlined above.  These expenses were not anticipated during the development of the FY20 Adopted Budget.
