Contract No. 134-0368-SS(RO); in the amount of $105,347.00; effective through July 4, 2019.

Body

Strategic Plan:

Foster Continual Economic Growth and Vitality
4.5 Provide safe and effective transportation systems to support the efficient flow of motorists, commerce, and regional connectivity
Deliver First Class Services to the Public and Our Customers
5.2 Be responsible stewards of the public’s resources
5.3 Ensure effective and efficient delivery of county services and support
5.4 Strive to exceed customer expectations

Summary:

This request is for the second and final term extension to the sole source contract for annual maintenance and support of the Smart Tracs Advanced Traffic Management System and Advanced Traveler Information System software. Due to the de-commission of the environmental sensors, that support task is no longer required for ongoing support resulting in a savings of $40,799.00 as compared to prior years.

Vendor services have been satisfactory, therefore it is recommended that the second and final term extension be exercised at the original prices, terms and conditions.

Background/Explanation:

This sole source purchase was originally approved by the County Administrator on July 7, 2014, and on January 19, 2017, the County Administrator approved the assignment of contracts from Telvent USA, LLC to Kapsch TrafficCom Transportation NA, Inc.  The first term extension to the contract was approved by the County Administrator on June 18, 2017.

Since its inception, this software has significantly enhanced the County transportation system by reducing traffic congestion, improving roadway safety and increasing driver information and awareness.

Fiscal Impact:

Expenditure not to exceed $105,347.00

Funding is derived from the Intelligent Transportation System Operating and Capital Improvement Program.

Delegated Authority:

Authority for the County Administrator to approve terms extensions is granted under Code Section 2-180.
