Recommended Action

Adoption of a Resolution to declare an escheated property surplus and authorize the transfer of the parcel by donation to Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County.

 

                     The property is a vacant parcel 0.13 acres in size (50’ x 110’) located at 1304 Pennsylvania Ave in the North Greenwood community of Clearwater.

                     This property was not transferred to the City of Clearwater and is identified as needed for infill housing.

                     Appropriate County Departments have reviewed the property and determined that the County has no use for it and the best use would be for infill housing.

 

Authorize the Chairman to sign the County Deed and the Clerk of the Circuit Court to attest the Resolution and County Deed and record in the Public Records of Pinellas County.

Summary:

Summary

The purpose of this action is to transfer by donation, the escheated and surplused parcel to Habitat for construction of a single-family home on the parcel.  Habitat requested the County transfer the parcel to them.

Background Information:

This parcel escheated to Pinellas County in 2004.  The property is needed for infill housing and restitution to the previous record owner is not feasible.  Florida State Statute 125.38 allows the transfer directly to a not for profit organization without a competitive bid.
