Summary:

Summary

The purpose of this receipt and file report is for the filing of general liability settlements and workers’ compensation settlements made under delegated authority to the joint discretion of the County Administrator or his/her designee and the County Attorney. Attached is a memo reporting two (2) general liability settlements and no workers’ compensation settlements for the period of July 1, 2022, through September 30, 2022.

Background Information:

The attached memo dated September 30, 2022, shows the detail of two (2) general liability settlements and no workers’ compensation settlements for the last quarter that required mutual consent for the settlement range of $25,001.00 - $50,000.00.

The Board of County Commissioners delegated the settlement authority of claims, with a dollar range of $25,001.00 - $50,000.00, to the joint discretion of the County Administrator or his/her designee and the County Attorney, per §2-142(a) of Pinellas County Code.

 

Fiscal Impact:

Funding in the amount of $88,000 has been identified in the Risk Financing Fund for Fiscal Year 2022. These settlements are also consistent with the FY23 budget for the department. No additional impact to the budget or budget amendments are expected from the settlements.
