Recommended Action

Approval by the County Administrator of the rejection of bids received for Concrete Mix Materials products.

                     Two bids were received from Cemex and Concrete On-Call for Concrete Mix Materials (Co-op).

                     Rejection of bids is requested due to both vendors inability to meet 24-hour “must” delivery requirement identified in solicitation for concrete mix materials.

                     A new solicitation document is being prepared with adjusted delivery timeframe requirements and to seek more competition.

Summary

This request is to reject the two (2) bids received from vendors for concrete mix materials. Upon reviewing submittals and contact with vendors, neither vendor could meet the 24-hour “must” delivery time identified in the specifications.  It was determined that the department would adjust this time frame and Purchasing would rebid giving potential bidders the opportunity to submit bids based on the adjusted time frame.  Rejecting the bids is necessary to increase vendor participation and establish a contract that will fulfill the department’s requirements for these products.

A contract request for concrete mix materials was received by the Public Works Department. The contract was solicited on July 11, 2022, resulting in two (2) bids received from Cemex and Concrete On-Call.
