Summary:
Summary
Three of the facility’s baseball fields will be undergoing renovations. Specifically, this funding will be used for improvements to field 2. This project will consist of excavating the infield and adding a sand and soil mixture. Celebration Bermuda sod will be installed on the majority of the currently clay infield. Irrigation will be also be added. Clay will be added to the remainder of the infield. The field will be sloped for proper drainage.
Due to the large amount of rainfall in Pinellas County, the sand rises and clay sinks constantly which cause two major issues. First, playing on sand infields greatly increases the chance of injuries. Secondly, it greatly decreases playtime due to even small rainstorms causing standing water and muddy fields. True clay and grass infields will greatly minimize these issues. Adding grass to the infield will also significantly decrease future costs of re-conditioning the infield.
Seminole Junior Warhawks Baseball will fund the renovations of the two additional fields.
