Approval of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 Social Action Grant Funding recommendations and direct Pinellas County Human Services to establish funding agreements for the recommended programs.

 

                     Pinellas County Human Services administered a competitive, online grant application process for FY22 Social Action Grant Funding.

                     The grant solicitation was posted on April 1, 2021, and a standard application form was used to allow non-profit agencies to apply for either a small ($10,00.00 - $99,999.00) or large ($100,000.00 - $150,000.00) award.

                     An amount not to exceed $1,551,000.00 in funding is included in the FY22 Tentative Budget.

                     Fifty four applications were received, and the review committees, comprised of a diverse group of community stakeholders, recommend awards for eighteen agencies total.

Summary

Eighteen (18) community agencies are recommended for Social Action Grant Funding with programming in the areas of food/nutritional services, homeless prevention and supportive services, healthcare and human services for disadvantaged residents, and supportive services for an aging population. Non-profit applicants were permitted to apply for either a large award ($100,000- $150,000), or a small award ($99,999 and below). Review committees consisting of community stakeholders were convened and asked to develop recommendations for a maximum of five large awards, with the remainder of funding allocated to small awards. A breakdown of the recommended awards for consideration and approval by the Board is attached. The grant awards will be for a one-year (1) project period.

Background Information:

Social Action Grants are available to qualified non-profit social service organizations desiring to provide services to homeless and low income residents of Pinellas County to address their health, economic and social well-being. Pinellas County Human Services administered a competitive, online application process for Social Action Funding through Neighborly Software. The grant solicitation was posted on April 1, 2021, and a standard application form was used to promote effective review and scoring. The County funding priorities for Social Action Grants are food/nutritional services, homeless prevention and supportive services, healthcare and human services for disadvantaged residents, and supportive services for an aging population. Organizations were eligible to apply for funding between $10,000 and $150,000.

Fifty-four (54) applications were received and eighteen (18) community agencies were recommended for funding through the Social Action Grant Program. 

 

Fiscal Impact:

An amount not to exceed $1,551,000.00 is included in the FY22 Tentative Budget within the Human Services Department budget.
