Approval of Change Order No. 2 (final) with Kamminga and Roodvoets, Inc. in the amount of $22,528.16.

 

                     The purpose of this contract was for the construction of flood control measures to improve the flood protection level of service for structures and roads for a 255-acre sub-basin that ultimately discharges into the Gulf of Mexico.

                     Change Order No. 2 (final) increases the contract amount by $22,528.16 for additional costs associated with unforeseen utility conflicts during construction and accepts the contract as complete.

                     Change Order No. 1 was approved by the County Administrator on December 10, 2020. The project was awarded by the Board of County Commissioners on November 12, 2019 with substantial completion in December 2020.

 

Contract No. 189-0262-CP(JJ); PID No. 000183A; Change Order No 2 increases the contract amount by $22,528.16 for a revised total amount of $3,257,729.27. Authorize the Chairman to sign and the Clerk of the Circuit Court to attest.

Change Order No. 2 (final) increases the contract amount by $22,528.16 for additional costs associated with unforeseen utility conflicts during construction and accepts the contract as complete.  The project was substantially complete on December 18, 2020, with final completion on February 22, 2021, in advance of the agreement end date. Final inspection for all work was conducted by representatives of the Public Works Department Construction Management Division.

Background Information:

The Board of County Commissioners awarded the contract to Kamminga and Roodvoets, Inc. on November 12, 2019 in the amount of $2,985,248.93. Change Order No. 1 was approved by the County Administrator on December 10, 2020 to increase the contract $249,952.18 for a revised total of $3,235,201.11.

The purpose of this contract was to improve the primary drainage system to alleviate flooding and improve the drainage outfall to Long Bayou in the vicinity of the Pinellas Trail and 54th Avenue North. Improvements included construction of new storm sewer pipe, new inlets, and ditch improvements to convey stormwater from the affected area. Appropriate erosion and sediment control measures were implemented as part of the project.

Funding is derived from the Local Infrastructure Sales Tax (Penny for Pinellas) and Cooperative Funding from The Southwest Florida Water Management District. The project is budgeted in the Capital Improvement Program: Physical Environment.
