Strategic Plan:
Foster Continual Economic Growth and Vitality
4.6 Support a vibrant community with recreation, arts, and culture to attract residents and visitors
Summary:
The Finalized Agreement will allow the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) to pay Pride for the portion of tourism promotional benefits that were expended and received prior to the event being cancelled by Pride, due to the pandemic. Because the original agreement had not been fully signed, the CVB is processing this Finalized Agreement in order to pay Pride under these circumstances.
Background/Explanation:
On August 20, 2019, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) approved the recommendations of the Tourist Development Council to fund St. Pete Pride Weekend for an amount up-to $75,000.00.
St. Pete Pride Weekend was scheduled to be held on June 26-28, 2020. In March 2020, Pride and the CVB came to an agreement on the terms of the promotional deliverables and the CVB received a signed agreement from Pride. In April, the CVB revised the agreement to include language specific to the pandemic and sent the revised agreement to Pride for signature. On May 14, 2020, Pride notified the CVB the event was being cancelled. At that time, the revised agreement had not been signed by Pride. This Finalized Agreement recognizes the tourism promotional benefits that were received by the CVB prior to the event being cancelled.
Fiscal Impact:
$20,000.00 Reduced Funding Amount
Funding to support the Finalized Agreement is provided through the CVB’s Annual Operating Budget. The source of funding is the Tourist Development Tax Fund.
