Approval of the award of bid to Advanced Engineered Systems Corporation (AES) for the STAR Center Fire Alarm System replacement project.

 

                     This project is for the phased removal of the existing site Siemens fire alarm system and phased installation of new building fire alarm systems. The current system is obsolete and beyond its useful life.

                     Two bids were received with AES recommended for award as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder in the amount of $687,250.00.

                     All work will be completed within two hundred forty-eight consecutive calendar days.

                     AES is a Pinellas County Certified Small Business Enterprise and Woman owned business.

 

Contract No. 21-0199-CP(PLU); PID No. 004083A; in the amount of $687,250.00; all work will be completed within 248 consecutive calendar days. Authorize the Chairman to sign and the Clerk of the Circuit Court to attest.

This project is for the phased removal of the existing site Siemens fire alarm system and phased installation of new building fire alarm systems  A post annual certification of the (3) three new systems shall be completed (1) one year after the initial installation/certification of each system.

Background Information:

The existing fire alarm system encompasses a total of nine (9) buildings on a large site. Currently, building 100 has the largest number of existing panels, expander panels, devices, etc. Building 100 has a network communication center workstation that ties all the buildings and their panels where information is readily available at one location. The existing system, while in operation, is no longer supported by Siemens and is past its operational life. The existing system will have phased demolition while the new systems are installed concurrently. Building 100 contains tenants that have specific security operating procedures that must be met during construction. The awarded prime contractor and their sub-contractors must meet the security clearance requirements to work in the building.

Two bids were received with AES recommended for award as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder in the amount of $687,250.00.

Total expenditure not-to-exceed:           $687,250.00

 

Funding for this project is derived from the STAR Center operating budget.
