Ratification of the Interlocal Agreement between Pinellas County and the City of Dunedin for the acquisition of the Gladys Douglas property located at 1900 Virginia Avenue, Dunedin.
• Total purchase cost is $10,000,0000.00 with $2M provided by the City, $3.5M provide by the County, and the remaining $4.5M through donations raised in partnership with local nonprofit entities.
• City and County have applied for a Florida Communities Trust grant in an amount up to $2.4M, with the County eligible for $1.5M of funds to reimburse part of our contribution.
• Closing for the acquisition is expected within 60 days of the City’s approval of the purchase and sales agreement, February 23, 2021.

Summary
Pinellas County is assisting the City of Dunedin with acquisition of the 44.01 acre Gladys Douglas property located at 1900 Virginia Avenue in Dunedin, Florida. The property will be owned and managed by the City of Dunedin with assistance from Pinellas County for preservation and management of approximately 15 acres of rare sand pine and rosemary bald communities located on the property. Under separate agreement the City and County will mutually agree to share resources and capabilities to accomplish those items specified in the FCT grant commitments, should the grant be awarded.

Under Resolution 21-6, dated January 12, 2021, the Board previously authorized the County Administrator to execute a funding agreement with the City of Dunedin for an amount not to exceed $3,500,000, subject to ratification by the Board.
