Approval and execution by the County Administrator of Change Order No. 1 (final) with Morelli Landscaping, Inc. for the Tierra Verde State Road 679 South median landscape project.

 

                     This project consists of improving the landscaping on the Pinellas Bayway/State Road (SR) 679 medians.

                     The Agreement term is extended by sixty-six (66) consecutive calendar days as part of this change order.

                     This Change Order increases funds in the amount of $58,877.03 based on the difference between estimated and final quantities utilized.

                     The amount increased due to the need for additional sod around perimeter of medians, change-out of plant material not conducive to surrounding vehicular traffic, additional mowing, truck watering and relocation of irrigation.

                     The Board of County Commissioners (Board) awarded this contract on November 20, 2018.

 

Contract No. 178-0562-CP(PLU); PID No. 003490A; increasing the contract amount by $58,877.03 for a revised total of $1,148,377.03.

Summary:

Change Order No. 1 (final) increases the Board approved expenditure by $58,877.03, accepts the contract as complete and authorizes final payment. Substantial completion was achieved on October 24, 2019; final completion was accepted on January 21, 2020.  The agreement term is extended by sixty-six (66) consecutive calendar days as part of this change order.  Liquidated damages do not apply as the County received substantial and beneficial use on October 24, 2019 which was per the term of the original contract duration. 

 

Background/Explanation:

The purpose of this project is to improve landscaping on the Pinellas Bayway/State Road (SR) 679 medians. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) owns the right-of-way along the Pinellas Bayway/SR 679, from Shore Boulevard west to Yacht Club Lane. Grant funds were provided through FDOT's Highway Landscape Reimbursement FDOT's and Maintenance Memorandum of Agreement for Landscape Rehabilitation for approximately $741,000. The County is partnering with the Tierra Verde Community Association (TVCA) for beautification of the medians within the described project limits of the FDOT right-of-way.

Delegated Authority:
