Approval and execution by the County Administrator of Change Order No. 1 (final) with Southern Underground Industries, Inc. for the McMullen Booth Road and SR 580 Water Main Improvements.

 

                     The project consisted of the furnishing and installation of a new 16-inch water main along North McMullen Booth Road to the intersection of SR 580.

                     Agreement term is extended by sixty (60) consecutive calendar days.

                     Final construction completion occurred on December 10, 2019, with a reduction in price of ($169,825.00) based on the difference between estimated and final quantities utilized.

                     Contract was awarded by the Board of County Commissioners (Board) on November 20, 2018 in the amount of $1,255,203.00.

 

Contract No. 178-0442-CP(PLU); PID No. 003226A; reducing the contract amount by ($169,825.00) for a revised total of $1,085,378.00.

Summary:

Change Order No. 1 (final) decreases the Board approved expenditure by ($169,825.00), accepts the contract as complete, releases all remaining retainage, and authorizes final payment. The decrease in expenditure is due to unused contingency and the difference between estimated preliminary and final quantities used. Substantial completion was achieved on October 8, 2019; final completion was accepted on December 10, 2019.  As part of this change order, the Agreement term is extended by sixty (60) consecutive calendar days.

 

Background/Explanation:

This contract was originally awarded by the Board on November 20, 2018, in the amount of $1,255,203.00 for a total construction duration of 240 consecutive calendar days.

The purpose of this contract was to furnish and install a new 16-inch diameter water main along North McMullen Booth Road to the intersection of SR 580. Work included open cut and horizontal directional drilling, excavation, pipe installation, installation of valves and valve boxes, restoration of roadway, and the disinfection of the potable water pipe after installation.
