Approval of the award of bid to Traffic Control Devices, Inc. for the Gulf Boulevard Advanced Traffic Management System project.

 

                     This project consists of the installation of fiber optic cable and closed-circuit television cameras along Gulf Boulevard.

                     Six bids were received with award recommendation to the lowest responsive responsible bidder Traffic Control Devices, Inc. in the amount of $1,686,686.00.

                     All work is expected to be completed within 270 consecutive calendar days.

                     Traffic Control Devices, Inc. does not qualify as a Small Business Enterprise (SBE) but guaranteed a five percent work allocation to qualified Pinellas County SBE.

 

Bid No. 189-0440-CP(PLU), PID No. 001031A in the amount of $1,686,686.00 as the lowest responsive, responsible bid received meeting specifications. Authorize the Chairman to sign and the Clerk of the Court to attest.

Summary:

This project will enhance traffic flow through connection of traffic signals to the County Traffic Management Center and provide for surveillance of roadway and traffic conditions.

 

Background Information:

Construction activities will include installation of approximately 6.3 miles of fiber optic cable, eight (8) CCTV cameras, and video vehicle detection systems at nine intersections along Gulf Boulevard.

 

Fiscal Impact:

Expenditure not to exceed $1,686,686.00.

 

The source of funding is derived from the Ninth Cent Local Option Fuel Tax (50%) and grant funding through the Florida Department of Transportation (50%).
