Approval of Change Order No.1 to the contract with Keystone Excavators, Inc. for the North County Satellite Site project.

 

                     This project provides for the construction of site improvements on approximately 5.5 acres of County property (North County Service Center) for a Solid Waste Satellite Collection Center, with a building structure, and a Tax Collector driving test course.

                     Change Order No.1 provides for constructing and installing the Florida Department of Transportation’s drainage outfall pipes that are located on the County’s project site.

                     Increase the contract by $1,255,220.00 and extend the contract term by two-hundred seven consecutive calendar days.

 

Contract No. 189-0071-CP(RO); PID No. 000759A; increase in the amount of $1,255,220.00 for a revised contract total of $2,935,620.00, and extension of 207 consecutive calendar days.  Authorize the Chairman to sign and the Clerk of the Court to attest.

Summary:

Change Order No.1 provides for the construction and installation of FDOT’s drainage outfall pipes that are located on the County’s project site.  Following award of this project, the FDOT informed the County of a proposed project to replace outfall pipes at the County’s project site.  The FDOT proposed project includes a drainage easement (60-feet wide) and associated storm drain pipe aligning through the County’s North County Satellite Project Site. 

Two-hundred seven calendar days will also be added to the duration of the project for completion.

 

Background Information:

This contract was originally awarded by the Board of County Commissioners on January 22, 2019 for the construction of site improvements on approximately 5.5 acres of County property (North County Service Center) for a Solid Waste Satellite Collection Center, with a building structure, and a Tax Collector driving test course.
 
The project consists of two phases; Phase 1 for the construction of the driving test course and Phase 2 for the construction of the Solid Waste Satellite Collection Center.

 

Fiscal Impact:

Original estimated expenditure:             $1,680,400.00

Increase due to Change Order No. 1:    $1,255,220.00

 

Revised contract amount:                      $2,935,620.00

 

Funding is derived from the Solid Waste Trust fund which will be reimbursed through a joint project agreement with FDOT.
