Approval of the award of bid to Wharton-Smith, Inc. for the Capri Isle Pump Station upgrades project.
• This project consists of pump station upgrades including replacement of yard piping, valves, meters, pumps, emergency generator and electrical equipment.
• Three bids were received with award recommendation to the lowest responsive responsible bid Wharton-Smith, Inc. in the amount of $6,108,430.00.
• All work is expected to be completed within 540 consecutive calendar days.
• The County has recently undergone multiple water quality and booster station upgrade projects, starting at the north end of the county, working downstream to the south. The Capri Isle Pump Station is one of the next locations scheduled for upgrades.
Bid No. 189-0350 (RO); PID No. 002151A; in the amount of $6,108,430.00 on the basis of being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received meeting specifications. Authorize the Chairman to sign and the Clerk of the Court to attest.

Summary:
Improvements to this station shall include, but not be limited to, replacement of booster pumps, new variable frequency drives, evaluation and re-construction of the electrical delivery system, generator power, automatic transfer switch, valve and pipe configuration, bridge crane, building rehabilitation, site grading for storm water drainage, programmable logic controller (PLC) with human machine interface, flow meter and other associated instrumentation and controls.
Background Information:
Water is purchased from Tampa Bay water and enters the County Water Network near the Pinellas/Pasco county line. Through a network of booster pump stations and control valves, the water travels south approximately 35 miles to Fort De Soto Park. The County has recently undergone multiple water quality and booster station upgrade projects, starting at the north end of the county, working downstream to the south. The original pump station was constructed between the years 1977 and 1979. After nearly four decades of operation, the pump station is in critical need of rehabilitation to meet current industry and operational standards.

Funding is derived from the Utilities Water Fund.
