Approval by the County Administrator of Change Order No. 1 to the contract with Xylem Water Solutions and Tampa Armature Works, Inc. dba TAW Tampa Service Center for new pumps, pump parts and pump repair services for County water and wastewater system operations.
• This contract is for repair and/or replacement of various heavy-duty industrial pumps critical to County water and wastewater system operations
• As this is a material, repair and operations contract, by Code the County Administrator may approve up to a 50% increase of the original BCC approval. The requested increase to Xylem Water Solutions (Xylem) is $500,000.00
• The requested increase to Tampa Armature Works, Inc. dba TAW Tampa Service Center (TAW) is $1,905,000.00

Summary:
This increase is being requested for two of the original five firms awarded under the contract. Specific firms are designated by original equipment manufacturers as certified to repair their pumps; the award to multiple vendors is necessitated due to the required certifications of pump manufacturers.
Xylem services Flygt pumps, which is utilized by all of the pump stations at Dunn. For TAW, the price for repairs and for new pumps is generally higher because of the size and horsepower of the pumps, which are critical to the reclaimed water operations. TAW services Peerless/Grundos, Fairbanks Morse, Foster Wheeler, American Marsh and Mody pumps which are utilized at Dunn, Keller and South Cross facilities.
In all instances, each location analyzes the return on investment to determine if repair or replacement is in the best interest of the County
Background/Explanation:
The Board of County Commissioners awarded this contract on June 20, 2017 to provide for repair and/or replacement of various heavy-duty industrial pumps critical to the County’s water and wastewater system operations.
Fiscal Impact:
Approved expenditure not-to-exceed: $7,000,000.00
County increase estimated expenditure not-to-exceed: $2,405,000.00
Revised total sixty-month expenditure not-to-exceed: $9,405,000.00
Funding is derived from the Utilities and Solid Waste Departments Operating budgets.
