Recommended Action
Adopt a Resolution recognizing the importance that local government decisions have upon the health and equity of citizens and instituting a “Health in All Policies” approach to County decision making, policy development, and implementation, to ensure that projects and programs are evaluated based on health and equity implications in addition to traditional metrics.
• Acknowledges that all County Departments have a role to play in promoting community well-being.
• Establishes a collaborative approach and reinforces the consideration of health, equity and social determinants of health in County decision-making in the development and implementation of policies, projects, plans, and delivery of services.

Summary:
Approval will formally acknowledge that all County departments have a role to play in community well-being and reinforce the consideration of health, equity, and the social determinants of health in County decision-making, including the development and implementation of policies, projects, plans, programs, budgets, and the delivery of services.
Background Information:
Physical, social, and economic environments in Pinellas County directly influence the health of residents. In July 2018, Pinellas County received funding from the Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg and Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County to implement a “Health in All Policies” approach across the County government. Health in All Policies (HiAP) is a collaborative approach to improving the health of all people by incorporating health considerations into decision-making across sectors and policy areas.
