• Resurface approximately eighty-four centerline miles of arterial, collector, and local roadways within the County.
• Three bid submittals were received with award recommended to the lowest responsive responsible bid Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC. (Ajax) in the amount of $17,745,968.30.
• Ajax has met the Small Business Enterprise goal of five percent and will subcontract approximately $900,000.00 to local small businesses.
• All work is expected to be completed within 821 consecutive calendar days.

Summary:
The purpose of this contract is to resurface approximately 84 centerline miles of arterial, collector, and local roadways throughout the county. This contract will also be used for resurfacing of some Municipal Services Taxing Unit (MSTU) roadways. Individual projects will be facilitated via a work order process. A project location map is included as an attachment to illustrate proposed pavement locations.
Background Information:
The County has an ongoing pavement condition assessment and rehabilitation program for approximately 1,100 centerline miles of roadways. The condition of the County’s roadway network is evaluated annually using the Army Corps of Engineer’s PAVER 7.0 Pavement Management System.
The PAVER system provides a pavement condition index (PCI) that Public Works utilizes to establish annual priorities for the pavement preservation program. This list of projects is evaluated and prioritized by staff using the PCI for roadway and field assessments. These priorities are then formalized and issued to the contractor as individual work orders for construction. Individual work orders consist of milling, resurfacing, and application of pavement markings along prioritized arterial, collector, and local roadways throughout the County.
Fiscal Impact:
Expenditure not to exceed: $17,745,968.30
Funding is derived from the Ninth Cent Local Option Gas Tax.
