All work orders for roads originally planned for resurfacing under this contract have been completed or issued for construction and the contract amount has been depleted. Change Order No.1 increases the contract amount by $1,179,800.00. Public Works Department (Public Works) staff has identified five additional projects in need of resurfacing to be completed prior to the contract's expiration of May 3, 2020, as listed below. This will allow for continuation of countywide pavement preservation projects until a new contract is in place.
1. Murray Avenue (Municipal Services Taxing Unit Program)
2. Local Group 17 Greenbrier Subdivision
3. Local Group 21 Orange Estates Subdivision
4. Local Group 38 Lora Lane
5. Maple Forest Road
Background Information:
The scope of this project provides for milling, resurfacing, and re-striping various roadways, parks, and parking lots to preserve and improve pavement surfaces at various locations throughout the county, as facilitated via the work order process. Public Works has been successful in completing all planned resurfacing efforts for FY2018 and FY2019. In 2018, the Board of County Commissioners agreed to the release of Transportation Trust Fund Reserves, which provided additional funding for the Road Resurfacing & Rehabilitation Program. A portion of this funding has already been utilized to advance the resurfacing of some local roads. The remaining funds will address the project needs for the five (5) locations identified with this change order request.
Fiscal Impact:
Original estimated expenditure: $11,798,212.35
Increase due to Change Order No. 1: $ 1,179,800.00
Revised contract amount: $12,978,012.35
Funding is derived from the Infrastructure Sales Tax (Penny for Pinellas) and the MSTU program fund: Transportation and Traffic Flow, Road Resurfacing and Rehabilitation program allocation.
