Summary:
A determination has been made that the usefulness of the County’s Hazardous Materials Truck and Trailer (former Hazmat 33) for County operations has been exhausted. However, the truck and trailer combination has not reached the end of its useful economic life. Staff has determined this vehicle is no longer required by its using department and no other inter-county requirement can be established. The Hernando County Department of Public Safety has requested to purchase this vehicle at the appraised wholesale value of $4,696.00 to support urban search and rescue operations. The appraised value represents current unit value from Price Digests.

Background Information:
The County recently replaced the hazmat truck and trailer. Hernando County has requested purchase of the former Hazmat 33 for use in their operations. Hernando County is one of the Region 4 hazmat teams that could assist Pinellas County on a large-scale hazmat incident.
Pursuant to Resolution 14-8, Suwannee County was first offered the opportunity to purchase the truck and trailer. No response was received from the offer.
Fiscal Impact:
Revenues derived from surplus: $4,696.00. The revenue generated from the sale of the equipment will be deposited in the Fleet Management Fund to offset the replacement cost of future vehicles/equipment. This revenue was not anticipated during the development of the FY19 Adopted Budget.
