Approval of the Funding Agreement with St. Petersburg College - Seminole Campus (SPC) to support SPC’s new Civic Building.

                     SPC requested funding support for new Civic Building on Seminole Campus

                     Board directed staff to negotiate agreement with SPC to provide $20,000.00 funding support from MSTU Funds

                     Community organizations and County departments may utilize meeting space at no charge on first-come, first-served basis

Summary:

The agreement with SPC will support the construction of SPC’s new Civic Building, as further described in the attached request letter. In recognition of the funding support, County departments like code enforcement and building inspection may utilize the space periodically at no charge. Additionally, unincorporated area Municipal Services Taxing Unit (MSTU) community organizations like USEM Community Association, Seminole Junior Warhawks, Seminole Youth Athletic Association, and Cross Bayou Little League may also utilize meeting space at no charge.

 

Background Information:

The Board of County Commissioners expressed support for this investment of County funds at their September 13, 2018 meeting. The County will have no obligation for operating or maintaining the new Civic Building.

 

Fiscal Impact:

$20,000.00 in funding support will be derived from the Municipal Services Taxing Unit (MSTU) funds within the General Fund. Appropriation totaling $220,000.00 is included in the FY19 Adopted Budget for projects supporting the unincorporated area MSTU as per Board direction.
