Recommended Action:

Recommended Action

Approval of the local workforce area designation and continued charter of CareerSource Pinellas under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, as requested by the Local Workforce Board Executive Director.

 

                     The language on the application form is controlled by state and federal law.

                     CareerSource Pinellas has met or exceeded the levels of performance for primary indicators of performance during the reporting period.

                     The Secretary of Labor has not made a formal determination during the last two years that either the grant recipient or the administrative entity has misexpended funds.

                     The subsequent designation will cover for a two-year term, beginning July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2021.

Summary:

This is an application for a subsequent designation of a local workforce development area.  The application documents the official request made to the Governor, by CareerSource Pinellas and the Board of County Commissioners (Board) for subsequent designation from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2021.

 

Background Information:

The Governor must designate Local Workforce Development Areas in order for the State to receive adult, dislocated worker, and youth funding under Title I, subtitle B of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.

Local workforce development areas that received an initial designation may be granted a subsequent designation if, for the two most recent program years, the local area performed successfully and sustained fiscal integrity.  CareerSource Pinellas has met or exceeded the levels of performance and sustained its fiscal integrity.

The most recent designation was July 2, 2017 through June 30, 2019.
