Board discussion and guidance on the 2019 State Legislative Program & Priorities.

Annually, the Board develops a State Legislative Program & Priorities that is submitted to the Pinellas State Legislative Delegation.

The Board’s 2019 State Legislative Priorities are the following:

1.)                     File legislation which removes the requirement that the governmental building official appointments on the Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board (PCCLB) must reside in Pinellas County.

2.)                     Support Regional transportation coordination and funding, specifically related to FDOT District 7

3.)                     Support language that clarifies allowable uses for Tourist Development Tax funds.

4.)                     Oppose efforts that would preempt local governments from controlling or managing Community Redevelopment Areas (CRA’s) as local economic development tools.

5.)                     Support language that brings greater clarity to self-defense laws, including Stand Your Ground and Justifiable Use of Force.

The overall State Legislative Program also identifies additional issues of interest to monitor, support, or oppose, as well as appropriations the Board will pursue.
