Summary:
The Lealman Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) Advisory Committee (LCRAAC) held a special meeting on October 3, 2018 to discuss re-naming of Joe’s Creek Greenway Park and the former Windsor Charter School. After input and discussion, the LCRAAC provided two recommendations for the re-naming, which are listed below:
1. Lealman Community Exchange
2. Lealman Exchange
Background Information:
On January 29, 2018, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) purchased the former Windsor Charter School to establish a location that fosters innovative partner collaborations and strengthens the County’s local presence for the purposes of offering diverse programming to inspire all of Lealman. The facility aims to be a hub for much needed programs and services, including but not limited to recreation, education, workforce development, meeting and collaborative workspace, and community partner initiatives.
During a Board meeting held on September 13, 2018, the Board discussed various items related to the Lealman CRA, including re-naming Joe’s Creek Greenway Park and the former Windsor Charter School. During the discussion, the Board directed staff to work with the LCRAAC on developing various recommendations for the facility’s name. During a special meeting held on October 3, 2018, the LCRAAC recommended the facility be re-named to either Lealman Community Exchange or Lealman Exchange.
