Body

Strategic Plan:

Ensure Public Health, Safety, and Welfare
2.2 Be a facilitator, convener and purchaser of services for those in need

Deliver First Class Services to the Public and our Customers
5.1 Maximize partner relationships and public outreach
5.2 Be responsible stewards of the public’s resources

Summary:

The Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health Services (SUD-MH) supplemental funding opportunity builds upon previous Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) investments to support health centers in the implementation of evidence-based strategies to address emerging public health issues, such as opioid use disorder, through the expansion of SUD and mental health services. Funding will support SUD-MH service expansion through investments in personnel and one-time infrastructure enhancements. Recurring funding will be requested to hire personnel for more intensive care coordination to connect higher need clients to substance abuse and mental health services and encourage engagement in these services. One-time funding will be requested for professional development, supplies, and technology enhancements, such as NexGen Clinical Workflow buildouts and technology integration between service providers and the Health Care for the Homeless Program.

Background/Explanation:

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) will award approximately $350 million in Fiscal Year 2018, of which an estimated $150 million is for service expansion activities and an estimated $200 million is for one-time investments to support services. The Health Care for the Homeless Program is eligible to apply for $130,750 in recurring funding for service expansion and $150,000 for one-time investments.

Fiscal Impact:

The grant application is for $280,750.00 for a one year funding period starting September 1, 2018 to August 31, 2019. No match is required.
