Authorize the purchase with PlayCore Wisconsin, Inc. d/b/a Gametime, to acquire playground equipment and installation services. 

Contract No. 178-0349-PB (PLU): in the amount of $760,953.08.

Summary:

This purchase authorization is for playground equipment and installation services in support of the Parks and Conservation Resources Department’s county wide playground replacement program.  The upgrades are scheduled for Boca Ciega (Boca Ciega) Millennium Park and John Chesnut Sr. (John Chesnut) Park.
 
The purchase is per the pricing, terms, and conditions of the City of Charlotte, North Carolina, County of Mecklenburg, contract 2017001134, administered by U.S. Communities Purchasing Cooperative.

 

Background/Explanation:

The latest playground upgrade to Boca Ciega took place in 2000; John Chesnut was upgraded in 1998.

The new upgrades will qualify both parks as a National Demonstration Site for inclusion, meaning that the park design is focused on whole environments that support the active participation of all people, of all ages and all abilities. This effort is also in alignment with the County’s Age Friendly initiatives.

Boca Ciega estimated expenditure:                      $396,610.13

John Chesnut estimated expenditure:                      $364,342.95

Funding is derived from the Capital Improvement Program fund, County wide Playground Replacement line item.
