Bid No. 178-0182-CP (SS); PID 002582A; in the amount of $914,238.00 on the basis of being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received meeting specifications; all work is expected to be completed within 150 consecutive calendar days.

Summary:

This project consists of constructing a barge impact fender system to protect the seawall at the Solid Waste Department (Solid Waste) Artificial Reef Material Staging Area (Staging Area) located in Sand Key Park (Park).  The fender system will be installed over the newly renovated seawall, completed by the City of Clearwater.  Construction of this fender will offer protection for both marine vessels, as well as the seawall.

 

Background Information:

The Park is administered by the Parks and Conservation Resources Department and is open from 7:00AM until dusk.  At the north end of the Park, Solid Waste maintains a Staging Area to support the Artificial Reef Program.    The City of Clearwater is responsible for the maintenance of the seawall and the County is responsible for the fender system.  Large marine vessels and barges use the seawall and fender system while they perform recycled material load transfers.  The existing seawall was deteriorated and is in the process of being repaired and restored by the City of Clearwater.

 

Fiscal Impact:

Expenditure not to exceed:  $914,238.00

Funding for the project is derived from the Solid Waste Fund, Capital Improvement Program.
