Approval of the traffic calming plan (TCP) installation of a multi-way stop condition on Wexford Leas Boulevard at Kent Lane located between U.S. Highway Alternate 19 and County Road 1 in accordance with the Residential Traffic Management (RTM) program.

Summary:

This TCP was developed through the criteria set forth by the RTM program, and requires installation of a multi-stop condition on Wexford Leas Boulevard at Kent Lane, located between U.S. Highway Alternate 19 and County Road 1.  Currently, there is one (1) stop sign located where the roadways intersect. Two (2) additional stop signs will be installed in an effort to reduce speeding on the roadways. 

In accordance with RTM program procedures, neighborhood residents submitted a request to the Traffic Engineering Division.  Traffic investigations and studies were then conducted.  Petitions were distributed by the County, and returned by the residents.  A total of 96.3% of affected property owners (90% required) were notified.  Residents provided 92.6% (60% required) endorsement of the TCP.

 

Background Information:

The RTM program was adopted pursuant to Resolution No. 97-291, dated October 14, 1997, and revised on June 4, 2002 and on June 7,  2005.  Implementation of the RTM program provides the County various measures to control excessive traffic volume and speed in residential areas.  The program also provides a process in which residents can find solutions to residential traffic concerns.

 

Fiscal Impact:

Estimated cost of installation: $1,434.69

Estimated cost of annual maintenance: $235.70

 

Funding for this improvement is included in the Department of Public Works annual operating budget.
