Background Information:
The Board of County Commissioners (Board) is the final authority in all matters relating to personnel policy and actions for offices, agencies, and employees of the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners, Clerk of the Circuit Court, Property Appraiser, Tax Collector and Supervisor of Elections. It reviews and adopts job descriptions and pay and classification plans, revises rules and regulations, and determines grievances and appeals.
Seven members: two appointed by the Board, two by the Constitutional Officers as a group, two by the County employees through the Employees Advisory Council, (and one by the above board members as a group) for two-year terms. Board members must be residents of Pinellas County for at least two years prior to the date of their appointment; must not be an employee of county government or a member of any national, state or county committee of a political party, or a candidate or elected official for any paid public office; nor have a spouse, parent or grandparent, child or grandchild, brother or sister, aunt or uncle, niece or nephew, by consanguinity or affinity, to a member of the classified service or to any officer who elects that his/her employees shall come under the provisions of the act establishing this personnel system.
