Approve the award of bid to Zabatt Engine Services, Inc. d/b/a Zabatt Power Systems Inc. for the Generator and Electrical Improvement Project for Building No. 1 at South Cross Bayou Water Reclamation Facility (South Cross).

Bid No.167-0407-CP (RW); PID No. 002709A; in the amount of $1,444,741.37 on the basis of being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received meeting specifications; all work is expected to be completed within 240 consecutive calendar days.

Summary:

The purpose of this project is to remove and replace four (4) switchboards with integration into the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) plant system.  The improvements will meet current arc flash standards for electrical safety.  Work also includes replacement of the diesel fuel piping, replacement of generator controls, and installation of docking stations for generator testing.

 

Background Information:

The reconstruction of South Cross Building No. 1 with updated equipment and electrical improvements will increase the useful life of the facility, reduce the amount of time spent on corrective maintenance, and allow for more proactive operations and maintenance of the system.  Upgraded electrical equipment meeting arc flash standards will improve electrical safety for plant personnel.

 

Fiscal Impact:

Amount not to exceed: $1,444,741.37.  Funding is derived from the Sewer Enterprise Fund.
