Bid No. 167-0437-CP(DF); PID No. 002827A; in the amount of $1,391,105.00 on the basis of being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received meeting specifications; all work is expected to be completed within 180 consecutive calendar days.

Summary:
The purpose of this project is to improve safety measures for access to elevated surfaces at numerous building locations throughout the SCBWRF. Work, in addition to grating, includes installation of access ladders, platforms, anchor points, and tightening of existing handrails. In addition to increasing worker safety and improving ease of operations and maintenance, this project will move the SCBWRF toward Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance by following its standards.
Background Information:
Currently, access to rooftop equipment and hatches is limited. The lack of permanent safe access to these areas increases the difficulty of completing common operational and maintenance tasks. In addition, elevated fiberglass walkways adjacent to and elevated above the biological treatment tanks are exposed to corrosion and sunlight degradation. The grating near these tanks is at the end of its useful life and requires replacement for continued use by plant personnel for daily operations. Grating replacement will address failing areas around the biological treatment tanks where corrosion has caused the walkways to become unsafe for walking.

Funding for this project is derived from the Utilities Department Sewer Enterprise Fund.
