Declare surplus and authorize the sale of a Crawford incinerator chamber (crematory); model number CB128SW.

Strategic Plan:

Deliver First Class Services to the Public and Our Customers
5.2 Be responsible stewards of the public’s resources

Summary:

This action declares the crematory as surplus and authorizes its sale to the highest responsible bidder, pursuant to Florida Statutes, Chapter 274.  The usefulness of the equipment for County purposes has been exhausted.

Background Information:

The crematory was installed in the Animal Services building when the building was constructed in 1996.  In October 2014, the Animal Services Department outsourced cremation services; therefore, the crematory is no longer needed.

The crematory was removed from the building to allow for repurposing of the space and is presently stored behind the building under a protective covering.

The equipment will be sold in place to the highest bidder, through sealed bid.

Fiscal Impact:

The expected revenue from the sale of the crematory is approximately $4,000.00.  The successful buyer will be responsible for all loading and transport costs.

Revenues derived from the surplus sale will be deposited into the General Fund.
