Sitting as the Countywide Planning Authority, adopt an ordinance approving Case No. CW 16-23, a proposal by the City of Clearwater (City) to amend the Countywide Plan Map from Public/Semi-Public, Preservation & Recreation/Open Space to Public/Semi-Public, Retail & Services, Preservation, Recreation/Open Space & Residential Low Medium, regarding 131.05 acres more or less, located at 3400 Gulf to Bay Boulevard (regular amendment).

Summary:

The site in question, located approximately 900 feet east of Bayshore Boulevard, currently contains an educational facility. The City would like to remove encumbrances in place through the Development Agreement prior to purchasing the property. If approved, this amendment will allow the City’s Future Land Use Map to conform to the Countywide Plan Map.

Forward Pinellas, in its role as the Pinellas Planning Council, voted 12-0 to recommend approval of the proposal and staff concurs with this recommendation.  The Planners Advisory Committee recommended approval of this case by a vote of 13-0.
