Approve the award of bid to Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC for the Taxiway Rehabilitation Phase 2 project at the St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (Airport).

Bid No. 156-0282-CP(PF); PID No. 000036A; in the amount of $8,388,100.80 on the basis of being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received meeting specifications; all work is expected to be completed within three hundred sixty (360) consecutive calendar days.

Summary:

The purpose of this project is to improve the operational safety of airfield pavements, and preserve Airport infrastructure by rehabilitating the existing airfield pavements.

The existing asphalt pavements, included in this project, are exhibiting various types of distresses, such as bleeding, and longitudinal/transverse cracking. There will also be realignment of several taxiways to bring the airfield up to current FAA standards.

 

Background Information:

The bid for this project was released on April 8, 2016 and two (2) bids were received. The award recommendation is inclusive of additive bid 1(repairs to Taxiway B and T), additive bid 2 (repairs to Taxiway M, J, K, and U), bid alternate 1 (use of thermoplastic marking material) and $750,000.00 in contingency funding.

 

Fiscal Impact:

Total expenditure not to exceed $8,388,100.80

 

The funding for this project is derived from:

 

Federal Aviation Administration Grant (82.0%)                      $6,874,290.72

Airport Reserves (8.9%)                                                            $750,000.00

Passenger Facility Charges (4.6%)                                           $381,905.04

Florida Department of Transportation Grant (4.6%)                  $381,905.04
