Strategic Plan:

Deliver First Class Services to the Public and Our Customers
5.1 Maximize partner relationships and public outreach
5.2 Be responsible stewards of the public’s resources

Summary:

The second (final) public hearing is scheduled for September 27, 2016.  The order of business and content of this hearing are mandated by Florida Statutes, particularly Section 200.065(3) that includes specific requirements for the Taxing Authority to advertise its intent to adopt a final millage rate and budget.  The form, content, timing, and placement of the required advertisements are specified by statute.

Background Information:

The Truth in Millage (TRIM) Notices, which were mailed to all county property taxpayers on August 22, 2016, contained the notice of the time and place of the first public hearing on the FY17 Proposed Budget.

Fiscal Impact:

Advertisement of the tentative millage rates and budgets and the date, time and place of the final public hearing, for County-wide, Municipal Services Taxing Unit, and other taxing districts is required to comply with Florida Statutes. At the final public hearing, the Board will approve appropriations for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2016.
