Summary:
This amendment realigns $350,000 from the Reserves program to the Countywide Support Services- Intergovernmental program within the General Fund to support the High Speed Ferry Pilot program. Appropriation is needed for payment due August 30, 2016 to the City of St. Petersburg for the County’s share of the pilot project cost.
Background Information:
On January 26, 2016, the Board approved Resolution 16-3 in support of the high speed ferry project, agreeing to allocate $350,000 for the project contingent upon the review of a business plan and approval of equal funding by the governments of the cities of St. Petersburg and Tampa and Hillsborough County.
On June 14, 2016, the Board passed Resolution 16-44 approving the primary business points for HMS Ferries to operate the high speed ferry program.
On August 9, 2016, the Board approved an Interlocal Agreement with the City of St. Petersburg, City of Tampa and Hillsborough County to provide funding in order to implement a High Speed Ferry Pilot Program.
Fiscal Impact:
This amendment will transfer $350,000 from the Reserves program to the Countywide Support Services- Intergovernmental program with the General Fund.
This project is currently on the Board’s list of BP-funded projects. If the Board elects to include the High Speed Ferry Pilot Program as one of its approved BP projects, this amount will be accounted for as part of the $7.1M in BP funds.
