Approval by the County Administrator of the purchase authorization with Precision Sidewalk Safety Corporation (Precision) for the removal of trip hazards from cement and asphalt sidewalks.

Contract no. 156-0313-PB(SP) in the amount of $200,000.00 for twelve (12) months.

Summary:

The approval of this purchase authorization will provide Public Works a mechanism to improve pedestrian safety by performing trip hazard repairs in cement and asphalt sidewalks.  Sidewalk surfaces will be restored to meet current American Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Public Works is in the process of developing specifications for similar requirements and anticipates a solicitation will be released and awarded in the future.

Pricing terms and conditions are per City of Jacksonville CS-0033-14 Sidewalk Trip Hazard Removal contract effective through September 30, 2016 which contained provision for four (4) twelve (12) month term extensions.   

 

Background/Explanation:

One of the key responsibilities of Public Works is to maintain county sidewalks in a reasonable state of repair, free of dangerous and unsafe conditions, and comply with ADA requirements of 1990.    

 

Fiscal Impact:

Estimated twelve (12) month expenditure not to exceed:                                          $200,000.00

 

Funding is derived from the Public Works, Roadway Division operating budget.

 

Delegated Authority:

Authority for the County Administrator to approve this purchase authorization is granted under Code Section 2-164.
